Hello everyone! It has been almost two months since I have posted to the site 😳 I have been a bit crazy! Since I last posted, quite a few things have happened, I received my residence permit for Germany, Cris quit his job and went back to school, and I have been picking up more and more freelance work!
My Residence Permit
I hired an attorney back in May to help me with the visa process for Germany, due to COVID everything was shut down and you couldn’t just go stand in line anymore to get an appointment. After assembling a mountain of paperwork I finally received my appointment. I was overly hopeful that they would just grant me the visa on the spot so when I did arrive and didn’t get a visa I was totally bummed. After waiting nearly 5 months I finally got the approval. I practically danced to the next appointment only to learn that I would need to wait another 6 weeks to receive the actual card and the official right to work. I am happy to announce that finally I have received the card and am now legally working as a Freelance Consultant and Manager in Berlin!
Cris went back to school
Cris left his job in September to take a bit of a break, and spend some time learning new skills. One thing that COVID has taught us is that it is a good idea to expand your skillset! So he started looking around for schools that could teach him more about industrial automation. At the circus, he dealt more with the end-user interface for flying people and moving scenery but he has become more and more interested in how to build and program those machines and others like the ones used in manufacturing from the start. Who knows one day he may build the machine that builds your next car! Finally, he found a school here in Berlin that has a 7-month intensive course so he enrolled and became a full-time student. Along with all of that, since I have been building websites, he has also taken an interest in web development. So he has been spending a lot of time with The Net Ninja! If you ever find yourself interested in web development the Net Ninja has quite a few good tutorials Check it out here!
Back to Work
Since COVID I also have been learning new skills and changing directions a bit. I have been taking classes and have now completed a capstone course from Northwestern University in Digital marketing as well as many Google certifications in Ad creation and optimization. I created my business Meyer Consulting & Management and I have been building website and e-commerce sites for people, as well as taking over digital marketing for a few brands. At this stage, I am getting busy and am adding new clients regularly. If you know anyone who needs a website, send them my way!
And Horny Ramen, my ramen partnership in Montreal, has taken off. We are delivering every week now and are gaining a bigger and bigger audience by the day. I am mostly the CMO and web developer at the moment but I am exploring options for how to be more helpful with that project, my partner Jordan has been holding the fort and cooking every week. Check us out on Facebook and Instagram!
And the Rally…
We have finished our first fundraising campaign for the Baltic Sea Circle Rally! Thank you so much to everyone that has donated, we couldn’t do this without your support! I am happy to report that we have raised almost half of what we project to need to cover the race. We still haven’t settled on a team name but I’m sure we will find something fitting soon!
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I really enjoy writing it, and I appreciate your support. I hope you have a very Safe and Happy Holiday Season!Â
XOXO Emily & Cris
