April Rally Update and 13 months of the Coronavirus…

Postponed Rally

It has been a while since I have mentioned anything about the Rally because we have been waiting to see what happens with the Coronavirus Situation in Europe. Unfortunately, things aren’t getting much better very quickly. Currently, in Germany, only 5.8% of people are fully vaccinated and 15.2% of the population has received their first vaccine dose. According to an online calculator I found, there are 36,369,615 people ahead of me in line to receive the first shot, and that I should expect my first dose between June and September 2021. Hopefully, with the new addition of doctors being able to provide the vaccine this timeframe will move up a bit, fingers crossed.

As for the rally, The Superlative Adventure Club, the organizer of the rally, has given us the option to postpone our race until 2022. After a few weeks of discussion, we have decided to take them up on this offer. Cris and I really needed an adventure and were really looking forward to the possibility of racing through the Baltic in a few months, but without the vaccine, I don’t think this would be possible. Currently, Russia isn’t offering entry visas and I doubt without even having our first shots we would be allowed to easily enter the other countries. Sadly we will have to wait another year for our opportunity to race the Baltic Sea Circle Rally.

What about the money?

Since we are pushing our start date till June 2022 we decided to take all the money that we have currently raised and make a donation to Crew Nation. We know that people in the entertainment industry are still out of work and still need support. And hope that our donation will find its way to someone that needs it. It is uplifting to see that some events are beginning to rumble back to life, with the EXPO 2020 in Dubai, The Tokyo 2020 games, and now the news of EDC hiring in Vegas it feels like we are slowly making our way back to “normal”. We want to thank everyone again for donating during this uncertain time.

What's next?

Cris is finishing school in a few months and I am a few weeks away from launching a new sustainable toothpaste tablet. We are still looking for entertainment work but are lucky to have switched our focus fairly quickly and have developed a healthy freelancing business. I just received my German driver’s license so we will do a road trip through Germany as soon as we are allowed to be outside of our state. Don’t worry I will be sure to write all about it! Thank you again for all your support with our rally efforts, when we begin planning for 2022 I will let you know!
