Balkan Express 2023 - orient edition
The Baltic Sea Circle Rally in 2022 was so much fun, I couldn’t wait to sign up for my next race. The Superlative Adventure Club, the organizer of the previous rally has another exciting adventure coming up, The Balkan Express 2023 Orient Edition! As you may have guessed, I have already entered and we will be racing as #34 Next Stop Awesome!
The Balkan Express 2023 Orient Edition is a 3 week adventure rally beginning in Dresden, Germany and traversing down through the Balkans and into the Orient. In 21 days we will cross 15 countries and countless different terrains including the Carpathians, the Low and High Tatras, Caucasus Mountains, Mount Ararat and the Dinaric Alps to name a few.
To qualify for this race you must have a vehicle that is at minimum 10 years old, and you must have raised a minimum of €500 for a charity of your choice. Thankfully, I still have “Hank” the Honda and we have chosen ZelterPate as our charity this year. As with the other races, there is no GPS allowed, the adventure is finding your own way! The Cause
zelterpate: Help for the homeless in berlin
The day center “ZelterPate” of the Prenzlauer Berg social project is an integrated facility of social services/homeless assistance in Berlin. ZelterPate has been helping the homeless, unemployed, and otherwise marginalized residents of the Prenzlauer Burg neighborhood for more than 15 years. Many of these people live in very precarious conditions. The centre has an average of 150 visitors during the winter months.
The daycare center offers free breakfast or lunch and hot drinks at a very low price. Visitors can also take a shower, wash their clothes, use the computer cabinet, or take part in various activities like excursions, table tennis tournaments, or game afternoons.
